PERSONAL

My father was responsible for installing my passion for angling. I first perch fished with him from the age of 9, my first introduction was at Biddulph Grange in Stoke on Trent & he soon became a fishing hero when banking a 5lb 2oz & 4lb 12oz brace of perch. I then moved to the canals ledgering luncheon meat for tench with one rod when one day my Normark ledger rod bent flat & my Mitchell 300 seized to a grinding birds nest halt from a blistering take. After knit one pearl the bail arm several times a feisty 9lb mirror lay in the bottom of my net & I was then well & truly hooked on the sport. From two ledger rods on meat to the new range of Richworth Freezer baits saw me move my local pond to what appeared a 36 acre ocean I the form of Reedsmere. A twelve month blank was to follow but my enthusiasm & new found love gave hope across the road in the form of Capesthorn Hall, Cheshire & using the newly discovered beach caster rig I soon got stuck into the action. Having mainly fished around the Shropshire area a visit down south to the Richworth Linear Fisheries in Oxford in 200 saw a new fisherman in me. Dedication is the key to my success, having travelled over 2 hours each way by car on single night sessions the cutting of my teeth on gravel bars & weed beds was nearly complete. I first fished Hardwick & met John Finch who photographed my lake Pb, a scaley 35lb 8oz caught on a single piece of zig rigged plastic corn. Having fished Manor to good success with fish to near 30 I received a call from Kev Knight & my bait association with Mainline was born & to this day have total confidence & loyalty in this bait. A lynch hill ticket was then made available & from a June to November I tamed some 17 different 30lb+carp from Christchurch. It was at that time that Simon Crow got in touch to report my run of big fish in the Crafty Carpers "secrets to success" features. It was all starting to become a bit unreal, as my superstars of fishing, the likes of Terry Hearn, Ronnie Buss & Ian Russell; I started to regard as my mates. Armaled, who I had been testing product for a year, offered me a Marketing Managers position which I gladly took. The angling flood gates then opened & I started to write for nearly all the popular angling publications. I wrote mainly from home & awoke in the early hours many a time to recall fresh accounts onto paper. My recent move from Armaled to Trakker was until now the highlight of my fishing career & exposed me as a public face of fishing as there UK Sales Manager. I am proud of this position & work hard to promote them as the UK'S leading bivvi manufacturer. I also have a working association with Korda, whose terminal tackle portfolio justifies there leading UK market position. In my short carp fishing career I have fished many venues both home & on foreign shores, fishing Cassien some 7 times before it got to popular in addition to a load of other French venues in addition to lake Surija in Belgium, the St. Laurence & the Ebro I am now looking forward in transferring my knowledge & practical skills to your successful fishing adventure.
